Erik and Anja van Loon have made a strong start to the Dubai International Baja. Erik recorded the second-fastest time in the prologue at Hatta, while Anja finished eighth. Both results were achieved under unusual circumstances.
The prologue ran without a roadbook, meaning the drivers had to navigate entirely by sight. “It was very special, everything had to be done by feel and sight,” Erik explains. “Due to the low sun and lack of wind, visibility was limited, but we brought it home nicely to the finish. Second place is a great starting position and it feels really, really good. We’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
Anja is also satisfied with her start to the rally. “We’ve started well and eighth place is really solid. It feels like old times with Floor and we’re looking forward to the coming days,” says Anja, who is driving with navigator Floor Maten. Erik has navigator Wouter Rosegaar alongside him.

The first stage of 194 kilometers with two neutralisations is scheduled for Saturday. The start is Saturday morning from Dubai Festival City. Live timing can be followed via https://timing.sporttraxx.com/races/dib-cars-2025/itinerary/.
