The 10th edition of the Morocco Desert Challenge (MDC) promises to be a truly spectacular event. With a total distance of 3,177 kilometers, averaging nearly 400 kilometers per day, this anniversary edition sets a new record as the longest MDC ever. The route, 85% of which will be raced against the clock, pushes both man and machine to their absolute limits.
Route Adjustments
Sporting director Jean-Claude Kaket announced several changes to the route following two extensive reconnaissance rounds. One of the most striking modifications is the removal of the planned marathon bivouac near southern Guelta Zemmur. Instead, the original stages 4 and 5 will be merged into a massive 527-kilometer “monster stage,” making it one of the longest in MDC history.
More Dunes, More Challenge
The primary reason for this change is the addition of extra dunes. Following the grueling terrain on day 6, this adjustment paves the way for an extraordinary loop stage on day 7. This loop—the only one in the rally—will take participants through the breathtaking dunes of Chegaga, one of Morocco’s most iconic locations. This change embodies the rally’s motto: “It ain’t over till it’s over.”
A Physical and Mental Test
With an average of nearly 400 kilometers per day, most of which is competitive, the Morocco Desert Challenge is not only a test of physical endurance but also a mental battle. The terrain ranges from rocky plains to towering sand dunes, requiring every participant to push their limits.
A Milestone Edition
The 10th edition of the MDC combines the core values of rally raid—adventure, endurance, and determination—with a route that is as unique as it is challenging. The inclusion of extra dunes and the introduction of the monumental monster stage promise an unforgettable experience for both participants and fans.
