Daniel Sanders “Does It Again” in Stage 7

Daniel Sanders secured another impressive victory on the seventh stage of the Dakar Rally, marking his fifth stage win in this year’s event. His latest triumph came on a day when he didn’t have to open the stage, a strategy that has worked well for him throughout the rally. With this victory, Sanders joins an elite group, as the last rider to achieve five stage wins in a single Dakar was his fellow Australian Toby Price, who went on to win the rally in 2016.

In the overall standings, Sanders has strengthened his lead, now holding a comfortable 15-and-a-half-minute advantage over his closest competitor, Toscha Schareina.

A special mention goes to rookie Edgar Canet, who despite facing issues with his roadbook, finished an impressive second on the stage aboard his Red Bull KTM. After more than 40 hours of riding, Canet currently holds a solid 10th place in the general classification.
