New adventure for Martijn van den Broek

The Africa Eco Race has been underway for four days now. Martijn van den Broek is one of the Dutch participants. By participating, he has taken a step back from his existence as an entrepreneur. He sees the Africa Eco Race as a great challenge and a wonderful outlet for the hustle and bustle of his entrepreneurial activities.

Last year, he successfully completed his participation in the Dakar Rally. This year, he and his Van Ham Racing team have found a new challenge in the Africa Eco Race. In a South Racing Can-Am SSV, he and his trusted navigator Jan-Paul van der Poel started the two-week rally.

Just like last year in the Dakar Rally, the service is provided by QFF. This team not only supports Van den Broek’s SSV, but also a Belgian team with a Red-Lined rally car. In the past, Van Ham Racing had its own service team, but this new set-up brings more peace and efficiency.

Van den Broek indicates that he does not often see himself driving the same rally. When a goal has been achieved, he prefers to look forward to a completely new adventure. The first days of the Africa Eco Race went well, except for a technical problem in the second stage. Fortunately, the QFF mechanics were able to fix this quickly. As a result, the men were able to “really enjoy” the third stage, according to them. The tricky navigation sometimes caused a short search, but they flew through the dunes and drove fast on the fast paths.

Van den Broek is not the only one who dreams of participating in the Africa Eco Race. For many rally enthusiasts, this African rally is high on the list of things to have driven at least once. The race is based on the mother of all off-road rallies: Paris-Dakar. Finishing at the famous pink lake near the Senegalese capital Dakar is a goal that Van den Broek would like to tick off. The Brabander from Bladel will see what comes next later. First, there are ten challenging rally days ahead of them, with a route that continues through Morocco, via Mauritania, and finally ends in Senegal.
