Jordan Baja 2025: Desert spectacle in Aqaba

Jordan Motorsport has announced that the Jordan Baja, the second round of both the FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups and the third round of the FIM Bajas World Cup, will take place from April 10 to 12 this year. The event, traditionally held in November, will remain based in the Red Sea city of Aqaba.

Since 2019, the Jordan Baja has been part of the FIA calendar, and in 2021, it was also included in the FIM competition. The rally takes place in breathtaking desert landscapes and spans three days. The action kicks off on April 10 with a short Prologue stage to determine the starting order, followed by the ceremonial start at the Arab Revolt Plaza in southern Aqaba at 17:15 hrs.

The real challenge begins on April 11 with a first stage of 334.13 km in the awe-inspiring Wadi Rum region. This stage is divided into two timed sections of 200.60 km and 133.53 km. On April 12, a shorter but still demanding stage of 185.30 km follows before the rally returns to Aqaba for the ceremonial finish, prize-giving, and press conference at the Arab Revolt Plaza at 17:30 hrs.

Out of the total 749.30 km route, 522.43 km will be timed sections. Jordan Motorsport, led by Organizing Committee Chairman Zaid Balqez and Clerk of the Course Khaled Zakaria, along with an experienced team, ensures a challenging course. George Khoury will serve as the Clerk of the Course for the FIM event.

“We are pleased to host the Baja earlier in the season, partly due to more stable weather conditions and the start of the international rally program for 2025,” said Balqez. “Southern Jordan provides a stunning setting for regional and international competitors. The images from our rally have become iconic in cross-country motorsport, and we expect this year’s edition to further solidify the Jordan Baja’s reputation.”

For the first time, the Jordan Baja will be hosted at the Westin Saraya Aqaba Resort & Spa. Entries are now open and will close on Wednesday, March 26.

In the previous edition, Emirati driver Khalid Al-Jafla, alongside navigator Andrei Rudnitski, secured his first victory in Jordan with a Taurus T3 Max. In previous years, Jakub Przygonski (Mini), Yasir Seaidan (Mini), and Saleh Al-Saif (Can-Am) etched their names into the history books by winning the FIA category.

In the motorcycle category, the UAE’s Mohammed Al-Balooshi has been the rider to beat since 2019. He claimed his fourth victory last year on his KTM 450 Rally, securing the FIM Bajas World Cup title. The quad category has been dominated by Saudi riders since its inception in 2021, with wins by Faisal Al-Suwayh, Abdulmajeed Al-Khulaifi, and Abdulaziz Al-Shayban on their Yamahas.
