Erik and Anja van Loon make a strong start in Qatar

The Qatar Baja kicked off today with a short prologue. In their new Can-Am Maverick R’s, Erik and Anja van Loon felt right at home. The new buggy felt good and quickly gave them confidence behind the wheel. Erik recorded the seventh fastest time, while Anja took ninth.

Anja needed a moment to adjust: “This is my first time in the buggy this year and with a different navigator, so I had to get used to everything during the shakedown. But I quickly felt confident, and working with Hein went smoothly right away. We had a great prologue and I’m really happy. On to tomorrow!”

For Erik, the rally started differently than expected. After arrival, it turned out Wouter had a serious infection in his leg and couldn’t take his place in the car. “That was a shock, but luckily he’s doing better now. Martin van den Brink was able to step in, which is great. The prologue went well with the seventh fastest time. I hope Wouter recovers soon.”

Tomorrow, the first stage will be held, covering 220 kilometers divided into three sections. The rally can be followed live at https://anubesport.com/timing/?rallyId=286.
