Erik van Loon aims for victory in Italy

After his win in 2022, the Baja Italy remains a special event for Erik van Loon. This year, Van Loon is also going for the overall win in the SSV class, with Wouter Rosegaar by his side. With the Can-Am Maverick R, it should definitely be possible. The Baja Italy takes place from June 25 to 28.

“We’re going all out for the win,” says Erik. “We know we have the speed; sometimes we just need a bit of luck on our side. The rally is quite intense, especially with all the stones there. But it always suits me well. Together with Wouter, we’re really going for it and want to be at the front from the very first meters. We’ve raced twice now and finished in the top five both times, so we know it’s possible.”

The Baja Italy starts on Thursday, June 25, with scrutineering and the shakedown. On Friday, a short prologue is scheduled, after which the starting positions will be determined. On Saturday, four long stages are planned, covering a total distance of 320 kilometers. And on Sunday, another approximately 100 kilometers will be raced at speed. “It’s a lot of kilometers in three days, but that’s also just great. You have to get into the right flow immediately, and we know we can do that.”
