Brock Heger wins Dakar as a rookie

The final stage in the SSV category was claimed by Sara Price, marking her third stage win of this Dakar. The American finished 51 seconds ahead of Jeremias Gonzalez Ferioli and 2 minutes ahead of Manuel Andujar. However, the overall victory in the Dakar Rally went to Brock Heger. The 34-year-old American maintained a commanding lead and kept his composure to secure the win.

Heger triumphed in the Polaris from Sébastien Loeb Racing’s team, finishing every stage in the top five until the final stage. He placed 11th today, but that did nothing to diminish his achievement. Francisco Lopez Contardo secured second place in his Can-Am, over 2 hours behind Heger, with Alexandre Pinto taking third, more than 3.5 hours back.

Heger took the lead during the fourth stage and drove with remarkable consistency throughout the rally. While his competitors faltered or faced technical issues, he stayed out of trouble. It was an impressive performance for a rookie.

Roger Grouwels finished 20th in the final stage, maintaining his 8th position in the overall standings. Sander Derikx finished 21st today and secured 18th overall.
