Van Loon leads FIA World Cup after flawless rally in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia Baja was the first round of the FIA World Cup. Erik van Loon and Wouter Rosegaar delivered a very strong and flawless rally in the Can-Am Maverick. During the second stage, they recorded the 11th fastest time overall and finished second in their class. This performance put them in the lead of the FIA World Cup in the T4 class.

Erik looked back on the second stage with a great feeling. “In the first part of the stage, we set the fourth-fastest time among the group of quick T4s, so after the refueling stop, we went flat out. In the second part, we were the fastest, and that felt really good.”

The rally was highly successful. “It was a great rally. Wouter navigated flawlessly, the car was absolutely fantastic, and I drove without mistakes myself. So we’re heading home with an amazing feeling. Finally, a rally without any issues, and we’re competing at the front. On to the next rally!”

The next rally is the Morocco Desert Challenge in April. “After two rallies back-to-back, we now have a short break. I’m already looking forward to getting back behind the wheel and continuing this momentum.”
