With a stage win in the final leg of the Jordan Baja, Erik van Loon and Wouter Rosegaar showed what they’re capable of. They drove cautiously and avoided risks, securing the fastest SSV time of the day. Despite earlier setbacks, Erik is satisfied with this result.
“Yesterday really felt like Friday the 13th,” Erik says. “After all the problems yesterday, I was pretty frustrated. But today, we started with renewed confidence. Right from the beginning, we were stuck in the dust of a car that wouldn’t pull over, so we spent a long time behind it. After about 70 kilometers, we hit a wadi and the rear wheel ended up crooked. After that, we just kept driving steadily and didn’t take any risks. Then we found out we were the fastest, and I’m happy with that, especially since we had to start so far back.”
It was still a frustrating rally for Erik. “The driving and navigation are really going well, but it’s always the car that lets us down. If everything would just go our way for once, we’d really be in the running for the win.”
