Erik van Loon scores maximum World Cup points in Italy

After good stages and a solid prologue, Erik van Loon and Wouter Rosegaar were the fastest in the FIA World Cup in the SSV category. This earns them valuable points, and Van Loon still has a chance at a strong final ranking in the championship. He is also the fastest in the Master classification.

“We had a great rally,” says Erik. “We started the prologue cautiously, you can really only lose the rally there. As a result, we were in the dust early yesterday morning and lost some time because of it. After the neutralization, we decided to start a bit earlier to avoid the dust, which cost us some penalty time, but we made up for it on the stage. The speed was there, as we proved in the afternoon stage, where we were the fastest T4 and everything went well.”

The rally wasn’t easy. “Our top speed is lower than the others, so that always costs time. But we didn’t let it get to us and didn’t make any mistakes. The Can-Am performed well, Wouter was flawless, and I drove well. During today’s stage, we got a flat tire, which cost us about five minutes. But we scored maximum points, and that’s what we came for. We finished ninth overall, which is good in this field, and the World Cup win in the T4 class and Master classification is the most important. On to the next one!”
