Erik van Loon wants to take as many World Cup points as possible from Portugal

While the FIA World Baja Cup is nearing its end, Erik van Loon still has every chance of overall victory in the SSV category and among the Masters. So the goal for the Baja de Portalegre 500 is clear: bring home as many points as possible. Together with Wouter Rosegaar in the Can-Am Maverick R, they will start in Portalegre this Friday.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” says Erik. “The competition in Portugal is no joke, so we can’t afford any mistakes this weekend. We still have a chance at the championship in the SSV class and at taking overall victory among the Masters. So we’re on track, but this race is important for that. It’s my first time here, so I’m really excited.”

The Baja de Portalegre 500 begins on Thursday 15 October with scrutineering and the tests. On Friday 16 October the rally starts with the prologue, and the first stage takes place in the afternoon. Saturday 17 October follows with the second stage, which consists of two stages. In total, 435 kilometers will be raced at speed. Erik and Wouter are racing with start number 401.
