Rally team Dust Warriors back in the Africa Eco Race

In 2020, a relatively inexperienced team suddenly appeared at the start of the Africa Eco Race. A team that immediately stood out because of its light green color scheme and impressive fleet.

The enthusiastic interviews with team owner and driver William van Groningen also made people curious about the ambition and possibilities of these dust fighters. In any case, the newbies did not seem like a one-hit wonder.

Now, five years later, the team is an indispensable part of the world of off-road rally truck sport and has already been able to leave enough idiosyncratic impressive traces. The team has a unique balance between conviviality and a serious sporting approach in its character. In short, there is no team like the Rally Team Dust Warriors.

Anyone who starts talking to William about the “game” will soon be a few hours further. The entrepreneur from Nieuw-Vennep thinks about many things and consciously pushes himself towards new learning moments. For example, during the last Carta rally in the spring, he consciously aimed to become more familiar with driving in the dunes. That “training” should now pay off during a renewed participation in the Africa Eco Race.

On the first day, Van Groningen, his son Wesley and navigator Raph van den Elshout were able to warm up nicely on a first test of about 45 kilometers. In the bivouac, everyone knows what their task is and it operates like a well-oiled machine. Beautiful to see and follow.

A return to the Dakar rally is not ruled out, but for the coming weeks the focus is on the Africa Eco Race. Five years ago they were still greenhorns, now only of color.
